“Eight Ways to Eat And Lose Weight!”

I would like to introduce, Cleo, my Portuguese Water dog!  She is the best pet, ever, for our family!  She is turning six years old this month and she plays as if she were still a puppy!  One thing that makes her remarkable is that she, like most animals, can tell the time!

Every night at exactly 5:30, she asks for her dinner! I don’t know how she knows but I could set my watch my her!  Do your animals do that, too?  We would benefit if we did this, too, because eating on a regular schedule helps to keep weight down.  Animals know to do this. We should too!

Below are my personal tips that I have used for all of my career to help keep my weight down and stay at a steady constant.  No binges, no starving aches, just an ‘even-Steven’ weight and I think it is because of these tips which I am sharing with you below.  Keep reading to discover how to keep your weight ‘even-Steven’ too!

An old east Indian sage once said: “Chew your liquids and drink your solids.” In other words, chew, chew, chew or, masticate very well! Chewing your food really well helps the digestive enzymes to mix with your food in your mouth and begin to break it  down before it gets to your stomach. This is an important first step to remember and to take advantage of to help slim down your weight.

If you want to loose weight eat half the amount of what you usually would eat. This way you don’t have to fuss with diets or calorie counting. Simply cut down on the size of your serving. How easy is that!

Place your fork down on your plate while you are chewing.  Once you have swallowed your food, only then pick up your fork for another bite. Slowing down at your meal will give your stomach time to let you know when you are full without being stuffed and you probably will chew longer, too!

Drink water between meals. This hydrates your body, as you know, but it also cleanses your stomach and gets it ready for your next meal. By drinking between meals you can feel when you are hungry more easily, thus not eating before you are really ready and needing to eat.

No snacking! Just drink between meals.  I know this might not be the best for every body type, but it sure worked for me.

Mark Twain said that the best seasoning for any meal is a good appetite. That is what you are after: A good, strong appetite. You don’t get that with snacking.

Brush your teeth right after a meal. With clean teeth you are less likely to eat after the meal is over. Just like when you have your teeth cleaned at the dentist’s office—you don’t want to eat again because your teeth feel so clean!

Try not to eat late at night or just before you go to bed. Going to sleep with food in your stomach doesn’t allow your food to be digested properly plus your internal organs are working to digest instead of resting, so you can wake up drowsy and not refreshed.

Lastly, Cleo says to try to eat at the same time everyday!

8 Ways To Look Like A Model This Holiday Season

1. Change your hairstyle.  It’s easy!  Just do the opposite of what you normally do!  If your hair is short and falls forward on your face, slick it all back away from your face.  If you have long hair and usually wear it straight down, pull it up and back.

2. Wear a darker shade of lipstick. Remember that it is the holiday season and you want to look jazzed up.  It might feel strange wearing a darker lipstick at first, but believe me, it won’t look strange.  You will instantly look dressed up!

3. Put on a dynamic pair of earrings. With your hair in a new style and having darker lips, your pair of earrings will complete the trilogy of ‘instant make-over!’

4. Match your nails to your lip color. Again, choose a darker shade of nail color than you are used to wearing.  Once you see your manicure finished you will begin to see a new you emerge—the fun you!  Go ahead and give it a try!  (I understand if a dark color just won’t work for you.  Instead, try a French tip manicure.  Remember, it’s just for the holiday!)

5. Change from your pants into a skirt or dress. If you are like the most of us you live in pants most of the time.  Now is the time to change into something more festive and fun!

6. Slip on a pair of heels. What a different feeling you get from wearing high heels.  Only wear what you can walk in comfortably so don’t go too high with the heel.  Some women can walk around quite easily in a pair of 3″ heels.  Not me.  My limit is 2 1/5″ because any higher and it starts to feel awkward.  Even a pair of kitten heels, which is 1 1/5″, is considered a heel and that is what I am talking about.  Get out of flats and into heels this season!

7. Dazzle! Accessorize with at least one piece of sparkle or something that reflects or shimmers.  Here are some examples:  a metallic belt, a brooch or pin with reflective ‘gems’, a sequined tank top, etc.  Get the idea?

8. Lastly, think about an alternative color to black such as red, cream, silver or white. Keep the color palette simple and think ‘Holiday’.  Black is always a sure bet.  But by choosing  to add color to your outfit, or substituting black altogether with red, cream, silver or white, plus trying all the above suggestions, will have you looking like a model!

Speaking at Google

Talking with Google employees about fashion was fun!

Yes, even Googlers wonder about the do’s and dont’s of fashion—men and women.  We held an interactive discussion and I answered their many interesting questions during the short time we spent together.  Some of their questions you might have, too.  Here are some examples from our meeting.

How do I dress age appropriately?

Answer: With every decade that passes, wear more classics pieces.

How do I stay current without spending a lot?

Answer:  Buy the best quality you can afford on your classic pieces such as great jeans, quality tee shirts, a trench coat, then update with current accessories.

Don’t like shopping but like clothes.  What’s the solution?

Answer:  Shop online.  It takes some trial and error to find the right company for your body type but it is worth the search.  Once you find that company, shopping becomes streamlined.  Order what you need in different colors to reduce shopping.

How do I put outfits together?

Answer:  One easy solution is to get inspired by fashion magazines and/or mail order catalogs.  Take a look at outfits you like and compare them to what you might already have in your wardrobe but never thought of putting it together that way.  You will be surprised when you start to see similarities (“I have a pair of pants like that and a sweater and scarf like that, too!  I just never thought to put them together like that!”) Tear out those pages and keep them in your closet, or even pinned to the article of clothing which is similar to the one in the picture for future reference.

I have such nice clothes but always wear the same old, same old.

Answer:  Try to mix up your expensive, fancy pieces with your casual pieces.  For example, wear your worn cargo pants with a feminine, delicate blouse under your jean jacket.  Or, put together your satin skirt with a basic tee.  Mix and match quality because, firstly, you can get your money’s worth out of the expensive pieces and not feel guilty that you spent so much and are not using them, and secondly, you can still feel comfortable because you are wearing your same old, same old.

Well, that’s just touching the surface of topics we covered, but it gives you an idea of what went on.
